Photo from years gone by...

This postcard is from the early 1940's; we have a used one postmarked August 31, 1942. This image shows an unpainted fence; the next photos show the fence painted.  The billboard in the back on the right advertises foot long hot dogs for 10 cents.

The dark sign hanging off the left of the balcony is for Kingsbury Beer.  The Kingsbury Brewery was founded in 1847, at which time it was the Kunz and Bleser Brewing Company. The main location was Manitowoc, with another in Sheboygan and Saint Paul, Minnesota. The Kingsbury name and label originated during the Depression as a near-beer. After the Depression, Kingsbury Pale and Kingsbury Ale began to be produced. Kingsbury's main offices remained in Manitowoc until 1963, when it merged with Heileman.
